In 2012, Bluelab Design Pty Ltd worked closely Elenberg Fraser and Hacer Group to resolve many lighting design issues in Luna Apartments.
The balcony lighting had been specified to sit on the balustrade under the railing. A fluorescent weatherproof batten was proposed, but both the builder and electrician discovered this would not work.
We designed and manufactured an IP-rated LED solid fixture to fit neatly under the railing. It was important that it was bright yet unobtrusive, as the balcony lighting would act as fascia lighting for Luna Apartments.
The result is beautiful and clever, and can be seen prevalently in the night scene.
For the corridor lighting, we sought to be more creative and dismiss the idea of downlights altogether. Our solution was to create trimless LED extrusions to run vertically across the walls. Not only did this achieve the technical lighting standards, due to achieving zero beading within the LED, the result was sophisticated and unique.
The same LED was used with numbers attached to designate apartments with number lighting in the corridors.
